What is an Apostille?

An apostille is a special stamp that certifies the authenticity of a signature, the capacity in which the person signing the document has acted, and the identity of the seal or stamp on the document. Apostille certification is required for documents to be recognized in countries that are parties to the 1961 Hague Convention.
