Is Notarization Required?

In some cases, a notarized translation of a driver’s license is required.

In Latvia, a sworn notary certifies the translator’s signature, which gives the translation official legal validity.

In other cases, a translation certified with the translation bureau’s stamp may be sufficient. This depends on the requirements of the receiving authority.

Is Apostille or Legalization Required?

If the driver’s license is to be used outside Latvia, the following may be required:

• Apostille (for countries that are parties to the Hague Convention)
• Consular legalization (for countries that are not members)
